Work to live or live to work

It’s great that you love your job but is that all there is to life?

Did you know that you CAN find a job you love? Being dedicated to your job is a great quality to have but there’s a difference between working because you have to and working because you want to. One key question that employers will ask before recruiting someone is “How will this person make us better?”.

What drives you

Having passion outside of your job shows your employer what drives you. This is because having passion for something else allows you to have different experiences and perspectives. It’s quite possible to incorporate the skills you learn from your hobby into your career. For instance, if you build things in your free time, it demonstrates that you have patience and are meticulous with details.

Building your network

Building a network outside of work via your passion or hobby can also help with your overall career network. The relationships you build through your shared interests tend to be more authentic and personal compared to work connections. So basically, the more people you get to know, the better because who knows what opportunities might come your way?
