Change the way you think

The struggle you’re in today, develops the strength you need for tomorrow

There are days where you start to realise that things aren’t going so great for you. One day you’re feeling perfectly fine and the next day, you find yourself stressing out even about the slightest things. Eventually, you’ll find yourself on the verge of having a breakdown.

The only way to break out of this cycle is by making a change in your everyday life. Here are some of the little things you can do to make you feel better again.

Let’s not be too hard on yourself

Sometimes, due to the circumstances you’re caught up in, you tend to put a lot of pressure on yourself. With all the pressure you carry on your shoulders, a point will come where you might just give up. What you need is to sit back and recognise all the good things that you’ve been through and going on right now.

Happiness is a choice and a path for you to choose. When you’re feeling down, think about all the things that you’re grateful for. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself and be content with who you are right now, at this moment.

You’re not a quitter!

One of the best ways to pick up yourself when you’re having a rough day is to get on your feet and do some exercise.

Get up and get moving. You can always go for a walk at the park and calm yourself down or you can take your bicycle and cycle around and allow yourself to enjoy the surroundings.

Don’t just lay on your bed or sit on your couch, feeling sorry for yourself.

It’s okay if you’re not an outdoor person. There are plenty of fun activities you can carry out from the comfort of your own home such as:

  • Clean and tidy up your garden.
  • Dance, as it is a whole-body workout that’s actually fun.

Happy people, happy you!

When you have the blues, your family and friends can be the best medicine to clear up your stormy days. They may not be in front of you the minute you start to feel down, but you can always pick up your phone and give a call or a text to someone you love. Sometimes all you need is a shoulder to lean on, a person you can trust to be your pillar of strength.

Happiness is contagious and one of the best ways to find happiness is to surround yourself with positive and energetic people. Be it your family, friends or even work colleagues. When you’re happy, it will immediately make others happier too. Plus, it’ll give their morale and mood a boost and vice versa.

Be spontaneous!

When you’re feeling down, you’re definitely not in the mood to do anything. What you need is some excitement in your life and one of the best ways to get yourself energised and free your mind from those negative thoughts, is by getting yourself to do something as spontaneous as possible. You can always take a ride in your car to your favorite ice cream parlor or pizza outlet and treat yourself with some comfort food. You’ll definitely feel amazing after that meal. Alternatively, you can volunteer yourself at any charity event or at a homeless shelter.

Laugh it all out!

Sometimes life may be handled too seriously. The way you’re feeling right now is only one moment out of all the thousand other amazing moments you’ve experienced in life. Recall the beautiful moments you treasure by going through your photos or watching videos that will get you laughing and wash your sorrows away or you could also watch one of your favourite funny television shows or movies too.

There’s always a way to clear your stormy day. Help yourself and try to do all the things you love when you’re feeling down. Carve out and claim the time you need for yourself to make yourself feel better because it is not the world but ultimately, you are in control.

Choose you!

At the end of the day, changing the way you think is a work in progress and it definitely doesn’t happen overnight. However, it is eye-opening as it is rewarding, not only to you but to those around you too! So, it’s time for you to get to know yourself on a deeper level and develop a friendship with yourself as you start changing the way you think!
